History

Commercial office construction.

Meridian Construction Co., Inc. was incorporated on May 31, 1990 and has completed over $200 Million of commercial, institutional, and government related work. Projects have included educational facilities, residential / multi-family housing, office buildings, tenant fit outs, restaurants, churches, healthcare facilities, LEED specified and numerous other specialty commercial projects.

Meridian is a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, and has received awards for safety and building excellence, and was awarded the 1999 Contractor of the year award by the Metropolitan Subcontractors Association (MSA) for General Contractors in the $10-25 Million category. Meridian also received the 2001 Merit Award for architectural excellence for the Carlin Springs Elementary School, by the Potomac Valley Chapter of the American Instute of Architects. In 2005 Meridian received the NAHB award for the LEED Silver certified Eastern Village Cohousing Condominium project.

Our President

Gerry Nowak, President of Meridian Construction Co., Inc. has been involved in the building industry for over 31 years. After laboring summers as a mason tender, Gerry graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. He started his professional career designing wastewater treatment plants during which he obtained his certification as a Professional Engineer. He soon moved from designing to building. Gerry worked for numerous construction firms where he handled all aspects of construction management from pre-construction to final payment. His hands on experience in scheduling, budget analysis, negotiating contracts, and project supervision formed the foundation for Meridian Construction.
